In pairs, students are expected to collaborate and complete their own T-chart about their prior knowledge on the topic. Once completed, class will come back together and share their ideas to make a whole class T-chart to be displayed around the classroom. Teacher should avoid correcting any misconceptions, as these will be addressed at the end of the lesson.
Students will be given a template of a bird's life cycle and will be required to research a plant life cycle in order to complete their poster. Students will be encouraged to label each stage of the life cycle by using the correct terminology and illustrations. At the end of the lesson, teacher may wish to address any previous misconceptions and clarify the correct answer. Attached below is a printable fact sheet about the birds life cycle and the matching template, as well as an example of a completed T-chart showing the life cycles.
